Human Resources Manager / Coordinator

The Human Resources Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the HR department at Eagle Lake Recovery Center. This includes recruitment, onboarding, compliance tracking, employee relations, policy management, and payroll support. The HR Manager ensures the organization is staffed with compassionate, qualified professionals and fosters a positive, mission-aligned workplace culture that supports staff retention and client care excellence.

Location: On-site | Choudrant, Louisiana

Key Responsibilities

Recruitment& Hiring

  • Coordinate job postings, interviews, and hiring processes
  • Collaborate with department heads to identify staffing needs
  • Conduct background checks, reference checks, and offer letter preparation
  • Manage onboarding paperwork, orientation schedules, and credential verification

EmployeeRelations & Support

  • Serve as a confidential resource for employee questions and concerns
  • Facilitate conflict resolution, coaching, and progressive discipline as needed
  • Conduct stay interviews and exit interviews to improve retention
  • Promote a positive, inclusive, and recovery-focused workplace culture

HRAdministration & Compliance

  • Maintain accurate and confidential personnel files
  • Track licenses, certifications, training records, and evaluation deadlines
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, labor laws, and state licensing requirements
  • Prepare for audits by licensing bodies and accreditation agencies (e.g., CARF, Joint Commission)

Policy& Procedure Management

  • Update and maintain the Employee Handbook and HR policies
  • Ensure employees receive and sign acknowledgments for all required documents
  • Provide training on topics like boundaries, harassment prevention, and confidentiality

Benefits& Payroll Coordination

  • Administer employee benefits and assist with enrollment or changes
  • Coordinate with finance or payroll vendors to ensure accurate, timely payroll
  • Track PTO, sick time, and FMLA/leave-of-absence requests

StaffDevelopment & Culture

  • Organize staff appreciation, wellness initiatives, and recognition programs
  • Support training initiatives and continuing education opportunities
  • Collaborate on team-building efforts to support morale and retention

Qualitications

  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (required)
  • 2+ years HR experience, preferably in healthcare, behavioral health, or nonprofit setting
  • Strong knowledge of HR best  practices, labor law, and employment compliance
  • Experience with HRIS or EMR systems (e.g., Paychex, ADP, Gusto, Kipu, etc.)
  • Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism
  • HR certification (e.g., SHRM-CP or PHR) is a plus, but not required

Schedule and Environment

  • Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
  • Occasional evening/weekend coverage for onboarding or training support
  • On-site at the Eagle Lake Recovery Center campus
